I provide marketing and storytelling consulting services to change-making science and technology organizations. I offer one-of-a-kind expertise, combining my background in marketing, my editorial experience, and my insights as an inclusive STEM advocate.
My favorite projects involve promoting women in STEM, amplifying diverse voices in STEM, and advancing equity in STEM.
How I got here…
I’ve worked in nonprofit marketing and storytelling for the past decade, but one job particularly changed my trajectory. I worked at a scientific association in Washington, DC as an editor of an illustrated magazine on science and society.
This role landed me in many unexpected situations: with a piglet in my arms on a Danish farm as I co-produced a mini-documentary on antimicrobial resistance. Asking Dr. Jane Goodall what she ate for breakfast for our food issue. Getting advice from the formidable U.S. Representative Jackie Speier on how to stand up to sexual harassment in STEM.
I became keenly aware of the magic brewing at the intersection of storytelling, creative media, and STEM through experiences like these.
I also became painfully aware of STEM’s deep legacy of exclusion. I became an advocate for equity in STEM and founded sisterstem.org in 2018 to amplify underrepresented voices.
I also founded Sister STEM LLC to provide marketing and storytelling services to clients at the intersection of STEM and social issues. Still based in DC, I happily combine advocacy and consulting work to bring about change in STEM.
Are you a science or technology organization on a mission?
